Seahorses are small marine fishes named for their horse-like heads. Belonging to the family Syngnathidaeand genus Hippocampus, they range from the tiny, 1-inch pygmy seahorse to the 14-inch Potbelly seahorse. They are entirely unique in the animal kingdom, and famously, the males are the ones that become pregnant and give birth.
