This mold has been in my archives for over 30 years. With the resurgence of the metaphysical past, I felt it was time to bring this design back to life.
Shown in a size 7, the hefty band this ring has makes it ideal to size, I actually make a new ring and adjust the size in the wax before casting for optimum wear. I take my time with design and give it a fantastic finish. This is a large, heavy ring, I fill in the back, make sure your size fits well so it doesn’t spin.
Last picture is the torch melting the silver in the crucible right before the centrifuge spin! This is the most exciting and dangerous part of the journey in process!
A little bio on the scarab: Ancient Egyptian scarabs were popular amulets in ancient Egypt. According to ancient Egyptian myths, the sun (Ra) rolls across the sky each day and transforms bodies and souls. Modeled upon the Scarabaeidae family dung beetle, which rolls dung into a ball for the purposes of eating and laying eggs that are later transformed into larva, the scarab was seen as an earthly symbol of this heavenly cycle. This came to be iconographic, and ideological symbols were incorporated into Ancient Egyptian society.
